HOW TO

- come from FUMICINO airport to ANZIO?

Fumicino is far away from the city center, like "Ostia", the beach
for Rome, which is 35km away.

You have the choice of Taxi, Bus, Trains (public and a dedicated)

When you leave the baggage claim, keep to the right and walk a-
long the front - there will be signs leading you...

If you use one of the bus shuttles to Roma-Termini (main-station)

On the way you'll find small cabins selling tickets  for ~5-8€ de-
pending on the company - there is no real difference.
You will be directly brought up to the main-station "Roma-Termini"

Departure is almost each 30 minutes and the distance is done de-
pending on traffic in 45-120 minutes...

If you are in a kind of hurry, you should use the Leonhardo - da -
Vince-Express Train - for 14€ - all the way without stops.

A Taxi, which is only worthwhile for ~3-4 or more, will cost you
50€ - that's a fix rate !

You can choose as well a public local train for ~8€, but then you
have the change in Trastevere or "Pyramide", if the elevators are
not allready in use, you need to go downstairs/upstairs. In these
trains kids under 10 are free.

If you came by Taxi or Bus :

Go into the station and buy your ticket to ANZIO-Marechiaro but
you find only NETTUNO on the timetable - look to the big time -
tables for departures and check the "binario" ( stage ), this is on-
ly shown, when the train has arrived in this "head-station" !!
Go to the stage and wait there ( if longer waiting time, you might
want to do some shopping - there is a supermarket underneath
the station, go right - it's to the left at the end ) - When you go
back to the rails STAMP TICKET and enter train and after almost
exactly 61m you'll arrive at station "Marechiaro". ( More informa-
tions after booking )

Go to the head of the train and down the stairs - follow the road
and you'll find after ~320m a bar at the right corner and 20m fur-
ther on the other side your Holiday-Home

Just for a first step how to ask :

Is this the bus to Rome mainstation?  -  Questo è l'autobus per...Roma termini?
I would like to go to ...Anzio !             - Voglio andare a Anzio!

Alternativ
you can rent a car - which sometimes is really worthwhile - with navigation.
Depending on the season you may get a nice lower middle-class, brand-new,
spacey enough and not to big for parking ( a steady problem in Italy ) for only
180 € on the airport for FOURTEEN DAYS !!  ( plus 100€ for first time
petrol and 40€ update in fully covered insurance without any extra-payment)
Our first visitors had this ( an Opel/GM brandnew ) and were absolutely satisfied.
Inexperienced drivers should NOT go for a car, because Italian drivers are ( to
stay friendly ) "a little disorderly" - no signals to turn, to show where they go,
no real attention to lanes or signals (a STOP-sign will be neutralized with the
horn)
They ALL do telephone calls ALL THE TIME - without hands-free-instruments, etc,.
But:
Here, more than anywhere else, this rule is valid:  "In Rome do as the Romans do!"  ;-)
All it means:  Be careful, concentrated and follow the fluent traffic...
It is advisable to rent the car to come to all the points you might be interested in.
Alternative: WE may - depending on our abilities - organize "a lift" for you ... ;-)
BUT:  ROME IS A NOGO !!!  -  The traffic in Rome is unbelievable !!
They use the space - not the lanes - so thought for 2 cars they use it with three and
some scooters on top.   Them they have "roads along the roads" - suddenly appea-
ring splitted ways - and if you miss them, you cannot turn anymore.
Furthermore they have ( very costy ) special traffic signs even expat-italians don't know!!!

Medieval "Town of Neptune" ( Nettuno )

We propose a sunny day for a visit to the village of Nettuno (Rm), a nice one day itinerary that can be
tempting to all those who love the sea, history, food and wine.

The "Village of Neptune" belongs to the oldest area of the Antium.

Located at the seafront of the "Sea Matteotti" you find today a medieval town, which has ancient origins.

The Emperor Nero built the "Port Neroniano" at Anzio and the "Temple of the god Neptune" in Nettuno.

After numerous sacks and raids by the Goths, the province of Antium fell into poverty.

The inhabitants left migrated to the "Village of Neptune" and started to build houses around the temple.

So it became the medieval place of Nettuno, surrounded by the walls and towers which you still can see.

In the center he church of "San Giovanni" and - built by Pope Alexander VI - the "Forte Sangallo".

Today the village is visited a lot by tourists and the citizens all around because of its rich gastronomy and

fairly alive - compared with the more "layed-back" ANZIO You find bars, clubs, pubs, restaurants and even

wine bars.

Nettuno's Marina,

opend in this condition 1986, is one of the largest marinas along the Tyrrhenian Sea here, with its 14 piers,

3km of quay and around 800 berths for boats, yachts and ships of all size.
